Guides to Art History: Visiting a Museum Safely
I was recently privileged enough to get to visit an art museum in my area. It was my first time in an art museum since lockdown. It had been at least a year. Here are some tips, if you choose to go in person, so you can go safely.
- Whatever they are, respect the museum's guidelines. If they are allowed to open at all, most art museums have to mandate strict guidelines for their visitors. One very important way that we as art viewers can keep the museums open, is to follow the guidelines.
- No matter the guidelines, wear a mask. This is one of the best proven ways to prevent the spread of the virus.
- If possible, book tickets in advance. If your museum allows booking in advance, I would defiantly recommend doing it.
- Know what you want to see, and have a plan. This is any easy step to take to insure that you are not crowding the museum. To do this, visit your museums website and take a look around to see what exhibitions are on.
